Technical Challenges
The challenge was to modify an existing pipeline for future expansion with uninterrupted operation.

Technical Solutions
Hot Tap c/w By-Pass pipe and Valve Insertion was recommended to ensure the operation of the chilled water system was not affected with minimum risk consideration.

Our specialists first performed 2 sets of Dia400mmxDia400mm Hot Tap on the main pipeline with full encirclement and full-bore Gate valve. The By-Pass pipe was connected between the new gate valve to the existing pipeline to create a continuous alternative flow.

After the system integrity check, Valve Insertion was adopted directly to insert a gate valve onto the existing pipeline to create a termination effect. The Valve Insertion was subsequently blind off with a flange to standby for future expansion works.
