Pipeline Pigging

Pipeline pigging is a technique that a pig is inserted into a pipeline for cleaning, inspection, or maintenance purposes. The pig is placed into a launcher, a wider section of the pipeline that narrows down to its regular diameter and is pushed through the pipeline using either the pressure within the pipeline or compressed gas. Once the pig reaches the end of the pipeline, it is captured in a receiver.

ADVANTAGES

  • Removes unwanted materials that could damage the pipeline
  • Prevents the formation of corrosion cells
  • Helps identify potential issues before they become serious
  • Increases product flow capacity
  • Extends the pipeline’s lifespan
  • Enhances overall pipeline integrity
